Our Weekend Intensive Wheel Throwing Course is perfect for beginners eager to try the potter’s wheel or for those wanting to refresh their skills. Over two immersive days, you’ll learn essential wheel-throwing techniques, create several pieces, and gain a solid foundation in pottery.

This course also includes an optional 2-hour glaze session for $25, scheduled a few weeks later, allowing you to complete your pieces and explore the exciting world of glazing. We can work out the best timing for this during the weekend intensive.

What You’ll Learn

Across two full days, you’ll:

• Throw basic forms like bowls and cylinders.

• Prepare and centre clay on the wheel.

• Trim and refine your pieces for firing.

• Experiment with surface decoration techniques.

• Complete up to five pieces ready for glazing and firing.

During the optional glaze session:

• Learn about different glaze applications and techniques.

• Glaze your own work under expert guidance

• 8 x full days of instruction at our fully equipped Studio in Hornsby

• All materials, including clay, tools, and glazes.

• Kiln firings for up to 5 completed pieces.

Studio Policies

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone:

• Missed Classes: Make-up sessions are not available, but we offer open studio access (where applicable) to catch up on practice for an additional fee.

• Refunds and Transfers: Bookings are final. Refunds are only offered if the course is cancelled by us. Transfers may be arranged with advance notice and a $25 administration fee.

• Materials Use: Each student is allocated a fixed amount of clay and firings for up to 5 small pieces. Additional clay or firings can be purchased.

• Age Limit: Participants must be 16 years or older.

• Duration: Two full days (plus optional glaze session)

• Class Times: 10:00am to 4.00pm (with breaks)

• Cost: $450 per course, including all materials and firing.
